prüfbau FG II Precision Folding Device
The prüfbau FG II Precision Folding Device was developed to perform laboratory folds under defined conditions. Substrates up to 750 µm can be folded. The adjustment of the folding force happens considering the substrate thickness. This means all substrates within the above mentioned thickness range can be folded with constant folding force.
The pre-folding unit VFG enables a better feeding of the samples into the folding device without damaging the folding zone.
The FG II consists essentially of two rollers, arranged on top of each other. The lower roller is driven by an electric motor which enables the automatic feeding of folding samples. The folding pressure is generated by an automatic pressure system as the upper roller presses the sample to be folded against the lower roller.
The prüfbau FG II Precision Folding Device was mainly drafted for following testing purposes:
- Investigation of the folding behaviour of uncoated substrates
- Investigation of the folding behaviour of coated substrates particularly for cracking of the coating
- Investigation of substrates for heatset-weboffset printing with regard to fold cracking after thermal stress in the heatset-dryer and after folding.
